Great Thoughts for Thinking: (Changed Mondays & Thursdays.)

Do you know who you need to be saved from? You need to be saved from God.  --Voddie Baucham

The Lord Jesus has as great an interest in the weakest saints as the strongest.  --Thomas Brooks

People fall in private, long before they fall in public.  --J. C. Ryle

The way you win is to get average players to play good and good players to play great.  –Bum Phillips

Concentration and dedication—the intangibles are the deciding factors between who won and who lost.  –Tom Seaver

You know, Willie Wonka said it best: “We are the makers of dreams, the dreamers of dreams.”  We grew up as kids having dreams, but now we’re too sophisticated as adults, as a nation.  We stopped dreaming.  We should always have dreams.  –Herb Brooks

It’s not so important who starts the game but who finishes it.  –John Wooden

If it fails, admit it frankly and try another.  But above all, try something.  –Franklin D. Roosevelt

Above all, challenge yourself.  You may well surprise yourself at what strengths you have, what you can accomplish.  –Cecile Springer

"The extra mile is a vast, unpopulated wasteland."  Everyone says they go the extra mile, but almost no one actually does. Most people think, "Wait... no one else is here... why am I doing this?"  That's why the extra mile is such a lonely place. That's also why the extra mile is a place filled with opportunities. Be early. Stay late. Make the extra phone call. Send the extra email. Do the extra research. Help a customer unload or unpack a shipment. Don't wait to be asked; offer. Every time you do something, think of one extra thing you can do--especially if other people aren't doing that one thing. Sure, it's hard.  But that's what will make you different--and over time will make you incredibly successful.  --Jeff Haden

"It's just a flesh wound."  The Black Knight never gives up.  Neither should we.  --Jeff Haden

If you are depressed, you are living in the past.

If you are anxious, you are living in the future.

If you are at peace, you are living in the present.  --Lao Tzu

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.  --Maria Robinson

The soft-minded man always fears change.  He feels security in the status quo, and he has an almost morbid fear of the new.  For him, the greatest pain is the pain of a new idea.  --Martin Luther King, Jr.

Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, but only empties today of its strength.  --Charles Spurgeon

40 Days of Prayer for the Pastors, Churches, Cities, and Requests of the Long Beach Harbor Southern Baptist Association.  See Prayer Resources above for full lists.

Today's SIG Alert!*

Day 6 – Matthew 7.9-11: Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him?

  1. Pray that we will understand fully how much of a wonderful Father God is to us His children, and how fully He desires to answer our prayers.
  2. Pray for the Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church, their pastor Rev. Lester Barrie, his wife Trinette, and his son, their church leaders, and congregation.
  3. Pray for the Emmanuel Church Lakewood Gardens, their pastor Dr. Bill Cox, his wife Mary and their family, their church leaders, and congregation.
  4. Pray for the city of Cypress, for their elected and appointed officials, for their citizens, and for God’s will to be done in that city.
  5. Pray for the Northern American Mission Board and its president Dr. Kevin Ezell; the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions; the NAMB and Mission Service Corps missionaries; the NAMB-recognized chaplains in armed services, health care, marketplace ministries, law enforcement facilities, and elsewhere; and thousands of volunteers in missions throughout North America.
